Hey all,
I have said this before. I do not like it when people don't complete their Zone profiles. I realize that they are entitled to their privacy but other people like to read the profiles. I also don't like it when people put something in the Location field like "My house" or something stupid like that. The location field is for the city and state where you live, not for stupid stuff.
I think when people sign up for the Zone, they should be required to fill out their profile. I know some people won't agree with me on that but thats just my opinion.

i strongly agree, at least say something about yourself, it's a big let down to click on a profile to find nothing there.

I certainly agree with what has been said on this topic. Although I wouldn't necessarily say that it should be mandatory to fill out one's entire profile, I think people here should remember that, if they would like to stand out to others on the Zone, having a blank or incomplete profile certainly is not going to help them in that respect, especially if they wish for others to contact them. Now, I could understand if someone who only logs in to play games and who does not wish to meet many people here might not want to put much information in their profile, but I have certainly experienced the annoyance of clicking on a profile only to discover that it contains very little information of substance. Just my two cents.
I would like to see this topic moved to the suggestions category.
We've discussed it before there, but nothing has been done about it.
I would like to see age be mandatory because of us old pervs, we could get into some real problems hitting on some underaged person.
I also think sex should be mandatory because some of us pervs could inadvertently come out of the closet.
I think location should be mandatory to prevent us from falling madly in love with someone else and then find that we are going to have to mortgage our house to stalk them.

iIsn't he just? lol. As for me, I'd like the description field and the location field to be asterisked, which of course, tells people they have to fill them in, one way or another. I mean, I'm always left wondering what a person's interests are, what their real name is, why they're actually here, Etc Etc and an awful lot of people don't seem to have very much or indeed anything to tell us when we click on their profiles.

I guess a person has a right to disclose whatever he or she wants but certain fields should be required.
Lmao Bob! But yeah, incomplete profiles kind of piss me off too. I personally think it's hysterical when people put something like, "In hell" or something equally amusing in the location field, but damit! I hate going to the "What shmuck fuck has to say," section, and finding absolutely nothing. I feel better now. This is a kick ass board. Thanksfor reading guys. Lol!
yeah, if you don't know what to put in that field put "nothing to say."
That way, I at least know you give a fuck.
we there should be some drop down boxes like "how did you hear about the zone?" and then leaving a field for the choice "other" or something.
I have to be in the minority here, and disagree with all of you. People are entitled to their privacy, and shouldn't have to fill out certain parts of the profile. For instance, if no one wants to make any comments about themselves, or put in any words of wisdom, I personally, don't see why we should force them to put something in. The location thing, you might perhaps be right about, but I disagree on forcing everyone to fill out certain parts of the profile with information they might not wish to disclose.

Well, for me, your profile will identify you to others. Your profile may tell others if you are a friendly person, or just a person with a boring mind.
It is a good idea to complete profiles because there is other people on here who like to read them. I don't think some people even care that other people like to read them.
I think that we should all just move on an realize that some or even most of the people on the zone are boring like that. If they don't feel like filling in their details, I guess it's their business and nobody should be obligated to disclose some or most of their details. Hell, I wouldn't want to talk to someone who had their profile filled in by their neighbor's cat just cause they had no words of wisdom or because they didn't know in what country they lived. Smiles.

I swear... no one on this site can be happy. If people profiles are balnk you all complain, if they have a book in them you all complain too. So whatever... I am not, nor should one on this site do any thing that any of you all say. If they want to fill out the profile then so be it, if they do not then whatever too.
Yes, I agree with this topic 100 percent. Why create an account? Why bother to put yourself out there? Why consider yourself a socialite? If you're not gonna put up a profile? Hmmmm... I'm one of those weirdos, who, when bored, likes to read the random profiles.

I cannot comprehend why anybody is remotely bothered about whether or not profiles are incomplete. Why does it matter to you if somebody doesn't fill out certain columns of their profile, or puts something other than a city/town and state in the location field? I read profiles, and am never disappointed, unhappy or annoyed if somebody doesn't fill in every field, doesn't put a propper place in their location field, doesn't write much about themselves but that they like music and meeting new people, if they don't even write that much about themselves etc. I really don't understand why it would bother anybody.
I agree with most everyone here. Clicking on someone's profile because they sound interesting, and then discovering nothing there, is definitely annoying. However, I don't mind when people put something odd, be it clever or stupid, in the location field.
Bob, your post cracked me up. Even if people were required to fill out things like location, age, and sex, nothing stops them from lying. If I'm not mistaken, trouble has arisen on the Zone before because people lied about those things, and got hit on.
Simon, your post was pretty clever too, as they usually are.
If you don't like incomplete profiles on zone, just skip over them. Not everyone is good at expressing themselves through writing, or wants to post their age, or where they live. Frankly, I see no problem with it at all.

In response to the point about fakery in profiles, it occurs on many websites. Some people are fake online, but fakery is not an issue if we don't build our hopes up about people online, don't allow them to be as involved with our lives as people offline and don't depend on them for social interactivity.
My text profile is the way it is for one simple reason, which is that offline I don't go around in public with one of those frickin' sandwich signs hung around my neck displaying in plain view all my personal details for everyone to read. This same rule applies online. If you are someone on here I regularly or privately correspond with, then this is because I have found a good reason to do so. It's just the way I am, it's just my nature governing my behavior.
Very true. I agree with the last posts, it is annoying that people will not or choose not to put certain things in their profiles but still they have the right. *god this zone is addictive*
